Let's Run to Educate a Girl


What is said to be the first run in Liberia held in support of Girls Education kicked off in Monrovia on Saturday, November 27th at 8:20 from the JFK Hospital in Monrovia with three of the runners reaching the finishing line at the Barclay Training Center-BTC in 25 minutes.
Duncan Maina  a Kenyan National finished the course in 21 minutes, follow by Mark Naylor who reach in 23minutes and Janice Askie finishing in 25 minutes.

Speaking at the award and funding raising ceremony, the Deputy Minister of Defense Othello Warrick challenged young women and girls to take their education seriously and prepare themselves for leadership. 

 Maryland County Senior Senator John Ballout in his remarks acknowledged the steadfastness of PAYOWI’s commitment to the development of young people.
He said saving the next generation requires a collective effort of young people themselves.
Also gracing the occasion was the head of UNMIL Human Rights Section and UNMIL Football Club, Engene Nanderora.  
US Embassy Public Affairs Officer Dehab Gaehreab said gender based violence remains a serious phenomenon in society. Educating girls and young women will help in the prevention and reporting of violence perpetrated against them.
Ending violence against women needs more than just words, but investment in girls education is a notable way of preventing violence.

Paramount Young Women Initiative currently has twenty five girls placed in secondary and universities and is still in search of sponsors for it programs and projects.
